3/14/2026 Update - Canning Jars, Flowers, Banana Cake, Spin Dip & Chicken Soup

A lot happening this week! We’ve got an amazing sale on Ball canning jars, quart size. $10 per dozen

Potting soil arrived a few weeks ago, but we’ve added a service I’ve been wanting to for a while. If you are repotting something small and don’t want to buy a large $25 bag, do your repotting here. It will cost you about double by volume at $0.50/quart - but it’s perfect if you need just a little and appreciate the charm of not dealing with the mess at home. This pothos (et al. - I have a son who likes to “cover crop” my houseplants) had been suffering from lack of repotting - it took about 1 minute and 2 quarts!

More flowers arrived from Neosho Gardens! Pansies, violas, alyssum, snapdragons 6-packs for $4. Cold crops of cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, collards, spinach, lettuce, and Brussell Sprouts 6-packs for $4. Pansy bowls and baskets - $15. Our first combo pots - small for $20 and large for $40. These are all cold hardy and will bloom profusely until the heat really sets in. (They will not, however, survive the 13 degree low predicted - We will be tucking ours inside!)

This week we restocked Carrot Cake, Mocha Banana Cake, Spinach-Artichoke Dip, Taco Cornbread Casserole (including Minis), Bierocks, Tater Tot Casserole, Shepherd’s Pie (including Minis), and Chicken Noodle Soup Base. We also received some nice berries again!

Finally, if you have been interested in buying your meat directly from your local farmers, we have an appointment with Clay Center Locker to take butcher hogs in on March 24th. You can reserve a hog online (whole, half or quarter) and then you should receive an e-mail that will direct you to the locker’s website, which will walk you through every part of the processing instructions. Of course, you can always call or text us as well. Click here for more information.

If you’d like to hear from us specifically regarding future butcher dates, text “MEAT” to 1 (833) 265-8604 and you’ll be among the first to hear about it.

3/6/2026 Update - TriStar Seed, Berries & Broccoli

Continuing our theme of getting-ready-for-spring posts, TriStar Seed has arrived! We have: green beans (Blue Lake, Contender Bush, Provider Bush, Kentucky Wonder Pole), peas (Little Marvel, Sugar Snap), sweet corn (Ambrosia, G90 Hybrid, Kandy Korn, Bodacious), beets (Detroit Dark Red, Ruby Queen), cantaloupe (Hales Best Jumbo), carrots (Tendersweet), cucumbers (Pickling Boston, Straight Eight), lettuce (Salad Bowl Green & Red), okra (Clemson Spineless), parsnip (Hollow Crown), pumpkins (Connecticut Field, Big Max), radishes (Cherry Belle, Mixed Easter Egg), watermelon (Black Diamond, Sugar Baby), spinach (Bloomsdale Long Standing), zucchini (Black Beauty), turnip (Purple Top White Globe), dill (Long Island Mammoth), arugula (Roquette), and basil (Italian Large Leaf).

We received some nice strawberries, blueberries and blackberries and broccoli today. Restocked on Lasagna, Strawberry-Peach Pie, Blueberry Pie, and Cherry Pie. There are a handful of rolls left as of 5:31 pm!

2/27/2026 Update - Pansies, Cold Crops, and Seed Potatoes

A LOT of new items and activity this week! We received seed potatoes (Kennebec, Red Viking, Dakota Pearl, and Yukon Gold - $5/5 lbs.) and onion plants (Candy, Red Candy, Texas 1015, and Superstar $3.50/bundle or 2/$6). Our local Worm Hippie dropped off worm castings ($7/gallon bag). Our first delivery of pansies ($15/basket or $4/6pack) and cold crops arrived ($4/6pack; broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce and spinach). Potting soil was delivered ($25 big bag - we will have an option for buying just a little bit too…). Thanks to perfect weather, our greenhouse received a makeover with new plastic, and we have blueberries and strawberries in stock! We spent a lot of time climbing up and down ladders this week, but we did manage to make Bierocks, as well as the yummy Lavender Pear Pie. Today is cinnamon roll day - though as of 4:17 p.m., there are only a handful left.

2/21/2026 Update - Apple Pie & Chicken Noodle Soup

This week we spent a lot of time peeling apples, making Apple Pie, Apple Crumb Pie, and Apple Crisp. We also are restocked on our Chicken Noodle Soup Base and Chicken Pot Pie, and we made a double batch of lasagnas. Other new items include some fun gifts for plant people - microfiber plant dusting gloves, macrame plant hangers and a gardening tool set.

Full freezer inventory includes: Mini Tater Tot Casseroles, Blueberry Pie, Chicken Noodle Soup Base, Sausage-Vegetable Soup, Cheesy Broccoli Soup, Lasagna, Chicken Pot Pie, Cherry Pie, Apple Pie, Apple Crumb Pie, Shepherd’s Pie, Taco Cornbread Casserole, Pork Cuts, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Zucchini Cake, Apple Crisp, Bierocks, Mocha Banana Cake and Razzle Dazzle Pie.

2/13/2026 Update - Dreaming of Spring and Soups

It’s another cinnamon roll Friday, spring supplies are beginning to trickle in, and we are still trying to soak up our favorite winter items while the calendar says we can!

New food items include Sausage-Vegetable Soup and Cheesy Broccoli, and we are restocked again on Carrot Cake, Chocolate Zucchini Cake, Cherry Pie, Razzle Dazzle Pie, and Bierocks (some without cheese). New garden supplies include Dewitt Pro Max 4.1 oz weed barrier fabric (THE BEST) + pins, Benningham nitrile gloves, Sunshine Ceramica orchid pots, all-natural mosquito killer, outdoor pots and, of course, more houseplants. You’ll also find a few Valentine’s Day floral arrangements and 10-packs of small notecards from Ben & Hannah Dunnet.

Freezer items in stock right now: Mini meals (Shepherd’s Pie, Taco Cornbread Casserole, and Tater Tot Casserole), Sausage-Vegetable Soup, Cheesy Broccoli Soup, Tater Tot Casserole, Lasagna (almost gone), Chicken Pot Pie, Cherry Pie, Strawberry-Peach Pie (almost gone), Blueberry Pie, Shepherd’s Pie, Taco Cornbread Casserole, pork cuts, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Zucchini Cake, Bierocks, No-Cheese Bierocks, Mocha Banana Cake, and Razzle Dazzle Berry Pie.

Finally, I thought I’d better address the rumor that we are closing — this is not true. There’s a screenshot going around that, because of the placement of the pictures, makes it look like we are closing, but it’s just an unfortunate misunderstanding. We are still open, still baking, still dreaming of spring, and still planning to serve in the strength God gives us for as long as He gives us this work to do and the strength to do it.

1/30/2026 Update - Raisin Rolls

We made cinnamon rolls with raisins and cream cheese frosting. We only do a few, and only once in a while, so I’m sure there’s someone out there who will be excited to see this! Also, since we made banana mocha cake this week, we will also have a few cinnamon rolls with the coffee cream cheese frosting.

We have chicken pot pie and beef bierocks restocked again. Here’s a complete list of what we have available in the freezer:

Mini Meals $8 (chicken pot pie, taco cornbread casserole, tater tot casserole, shepherd’s pie), Chicken Noodle Soup Base $9-17, Spinach Artichoke Dip $10, Apple Crisp $15, Tater Tot Casserole $25, Lasagna $27, Chicken Pot Pie $22, Cherry Pie $13, Strawberry-Peach Pie $17, Blueberry Pie $17, Shepherd’s Pie $18, Taco Cornbread Casserole $16, Pork Cuts (sausage, bacon, Ozark bacon, deli ham, bratwursts, pork chops, pork cutlets, pork tenderloin), Lemon Lavender Pear Pie $17, Carrot Cake $17, Apple Pie $17, Banana Mocha Cake $17, and Assorted Cookie Dough $13.50.

Also - great news - we are restocked on Papa Baldy’s Popcorn!

National Pie Day - January 23, 2026

Not that pie needs its own holiday, but if you insist on celebrating, we can help. This week we made apple pie, cherry pie, blueberry pie, and two new ones — strawberry-peach and lavender pear. Strawberry-Peach is a no-frills double crust pie that tastes like sunshine, something we are all looking forward to. The Lavender-Pear is a little fancier, with just a touch of lavender flowers added to the pears (instead of cinnamon) and plenty of lemon zest in the shortbread-inspired crumb topping. It may sound like it tastes like soap, but I think we got the proportions just right. My #1 Quality Control guy told me he likes it better than apple pie!

We also made lasagna, tater tot casserole, chicken noodle soup base and banana bread this week — AND today is a Cinnamon Roll Friday. Looks like the weather is predicted to be cold, so if you need back-up firewood, we have bundles from the Riley County Sluggers 13U baseball team, who is selling it as a fundraiser. $7/bundle Stay warm!
